World Mathematics Invitational (WMI)

- Grades: K – 12
- Preliminary Round: March 18th, 2026 Online
- Global Finals: July 10-14, 2026 in Chiba and Tokyo, Japan
- Awards Preliminary Round:
Gold Award: Top 10%
Silver Award: Next 20%
Bronze Award: Next 30% or higher than the required mark
Merit: Next 40%
How the Preliminary Round Works
- Format: 100% online
- Time Window: Students can write the contest any time between 8:00 AM EST and 2:59 AM EDT the next day. This wide time range accommodates all time zones, especially students on the West Coast.
- Access Details: Contest access instructions will be sent a week before the competition. Students will receive step-by-step instructions to log in and complete the test securely from home.
How the Global Finals Works
- Students who got Gold, Silver or Bronze Award qualify to compete on the Global Finals
- In person in Chiba and Tokyo
- Travel to the global round is optional and at family’s own expense.
- WMI offer a tourism package for students and parents to participate in the contest
- Full details will be shared with qualifying students.
