World Mathematics Invitational (WMI)

• Grades: K – 12
• Preliminary Round: March 18th, 2026 Online
• Global Finals: July 10-14, 2026 in Chiba and Tokyo, Japan
• Awards Preliminary Round:
  Gold Award: Top 10%
  Silver Award: Next 20%
  Bronze Award: Next 30% or higher than the required mark                         
  Merit: Next 40%

How the Preliminary Round Works

• Format: 100% online
• Time Window: Students can write the contest any time between 8:00 AM EST and 2:59 AM EDT the next day. This wide time range accommodates all time zones, especially students on the West Coast.
• Access Details: Contest access instructions will be sent a week before the competition. Students will receive step-by-step instructions to log in and complete the test securely from home.

How the Global Finals Works

• Students who got Gold, Silver or Bronze Award qualify to compete on the Global Finals
• In person in Chiba and Tokyo
• Travel to the global round is optional and at family’s own expense.
• WMI offer a tourism package for students and parents to participate in the contest
• Full details will be shared with qualifying students.
